State Budget Cuts

Nope Kaine wasn't great but the state isn't going to get better till they undo the Gilmore years. Problem is, Billy Bob appears to wanna do the best for the money, and some deans of education will always defend the grand old party, even if it hurts them.

Simple logic, economy is and has been in the crapper. Lets hurt the low end when the low end is already struggling.

I've been reading bits and pieces more of the proposed budget cuts, and saw this article in the Times this evening:

To help address the shortfall, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has proposed eliminating state funding entirely for several social service programs, including a $1.8 million cut in support for local domestic violence programs and reductions of $1.2 million for homeless assistance and $2 million for child advocacy centers.

He's hitting the most vulnerable really hard...

Does anyone know what other cuts he's making that doesn't directly involve hungry children, women and children at risk, etc.? Is there anything remotely redeeming in his proposal?

Thousands of kids K-12 period? Low income people entire dental plan? (my grandfather uses the dental clinic that comes around, like thousands others do, and he's proposing 2.4 million in cuts to that program I believe).

But hey, he's not raising taxes, right? I mean all of these cuts are worth it, aren't they? Jesus, this is just disgusting. Hope all McDonnell voters are proud of their vote, don't know what any of you were thinking though, you weren't looks like...perfect example of voting for the R beside his name and not what's best for us. Still puzzles me why this part of the state is so red, they do nothing for them, nothing but screw them over.

It is likely that there will be a difference in opinion between two persons who may have the same financial status in life. We can expect an even obvious difference in answers between two persons who are not in the same financial status.

Taking it's toll up at MECC, a lot of classes were cut out, so what classes there are have been filling up quick. Thanks bobby.

A religion class and history class that I was going to take personally are gone, sceince dept. took a big hit cutting down to about 1/2 class per section when there's 3/4 for each usually - which means half the kids won't be able to take it. Math seemed to stay the same, those are the areas I noticed because that's what I'm taking. All of my profs were complaining about it, english prof. said whole sections in some programs(nursing, mechanic etc) were gone this semester coming. Either your class is gone or your class is full and you may not be able to get in, 600+ million to education in VA under these budget cuts have taken their toll.
